This dynamic recovery plan is a demonstration by the Endangered Species Conservation program at Defenders of Wildlife to illustrate how one type of web technology can be used to improve recovery planning for Endangered Species Act (ESA)-listed species. We have found that nearly 1/4 of ESA-listed species do not have recovery plans, half of recovery plans are >19 years old, and plans take >5 years to complete after a species is listed. Web-based recovery plans such as this can not only help close the gap, but can also help ensure plans stay up-to-date and widely available.
